Sunstone - The Effervescent Gem

Sunstone is a bubbly effervescent crystal which helps to bring joy and happiness. Full of joy and playfulness, Sunstone strengthens the Spirit, brings optimism and enthusiasm and clears and warms the chakras. It is a stone that works well with the Sacral and Solar Plexus chakras.

Sunstone is a beautiful sparkly orange crystal, that channels the energy of the sun. In the higher quality pieces which is normally in jewellery, you can actually see little spots of rainbow colours. It is a Feldspar with inclusions of Goethite and/or Hematite which refract the light between the layers to create an iridescent or sun kissed effect.

Full of joy and playfulness, Sunstone strengthens the Spirit, brings optimism and enthusiasm and clears and warms the chakras. It is a stone that works well with the Sacral and Solar Plexus chakras. Placed on the Solar Plexus it lifts out and transmutes repression. Place or wear it on either of these chakras to help with creativity and self-confidence. 

It grows naturally with Iolite, making this combination the perfect crystal to work with craniosacral therapy. During crystal healing or a craniosacral session, place a piece on the 3rd Eye chakra and a piece on the Sacral chakra. Let the energy of the crystals soak in allowing the blocked energy to loosen and naturally come to the surface to be worked on and healed. Placing a double terminated Sunstone or Quartz wand in-between will connect the energy of the crystals in a deeper way.

Sunstone is often used to assist with SAD (Seasonal Affective Disorder) to bring in light, energy, vitality and facilitating self-empowerment. Some refer to it as a “Spiritual Sunscreen” as its sparkling yumminess blocks and lifts “dark” moods to increase self-worth and confidence.

Sunstone is great to use for increasing creativity, heightening intuition and bringing a gentleness to cutting cords and ties.

A lesser known property of Sunstone is its ability to soothe burns.

Cheryl B writes, "I had an accident with hot liquid and did not immediately run my burn under cold water.  I could feel the burn deepening and finally got it under cold water. When I brought it out from the running water I could still feel the burning so I grabbed my Sunstone wand and gently rolled it over the area. Soothing began almost right away and I alternated between rolling it on my forearm and holding it in my hand. I could see the redness shrinking in a very short amount of time and the next day when I woke I only had a very small, light pink spot on my arm. Sunstone is now a part of my first aid kit."

I had a similar experience, "I was making candy and some dropped on my foot. After I cleaned it off I placed my Sunstone on it and a bandaid to keep it there. It instantly cooled. I scar very easily and it takes things longer to heal for me. It took a lot less time to heal than normal and it did not leave a scar. I was very impressed!"
