He is known for helping to remove obstacles from your path. It is particularly auspicious to pray to Ganesh when starting a new project or business to bring luck and success.
Put Ganesha on your altar for good luck and energy for your intentions. Some say Ganesh loves chocolate so putting a piece on your altar can go further to receiving his help.
Some of the symbolisms of Ganesha are:
~ large head for thinking big
~ large ears for listening
~ small eyes for concentrating
~ small mouth for talking less
~ one tusk to retain the good and throw away the bad
~ trunk for high efficiency and adaptability
~ large stomach to peacefully digest good and bad in life
~ rat or mouse to control desire and not have it control you
